Cueva de los Verdes: What to see and how to visit it in Lanzarote
Cueva de los Verdes: visiting the Volcán de la Corona lava tube in northern Lanzarote, designed by Jesús Soto. What it’s like and which routes include it.
A spectacular section of the lava tube created by the Corona volcano, lit by artist Jesús Soto. Passages, galleries and a final secret best left unspoiled.
It is part of the same lava tube as Jameos del Agua: a tunnel several kilometres long that the lava carved on its way to the sea. For centuries locals hid here from pirate raids. The artist Jesús Soto designed its lighting and path, which alternates narrow galleries, tall chambers and surprising colours. It keeps a final secret that I won’t tell you here.
Entrance fees to tourist centres are not included in the tours; opening times and prices depend on each centre.
