Mirador del Río: What to see and how to visit it in Lanzarote
Mirador del Río, César Manrique’s balcony over La Graciosa and the Chinijo archipelago in northern Lanzarote.
A former defensive post reimagined by Manrique, perched on a cliff almost 480 metres high, with views over La Graciosa and the Chinijo archipelago.
At the top of the Famara cliffs, where a defensive battery stood in the 19th century, César Manrique hid a lookout inside the mountain. Its large windows look over the El Río strait, the island of La Graciosa and the islets of the Chinijo archipelago. It is architecture you barely notice from outside: the view is the star.
Entrance fees to tourist centres are not included in the tours; opening times and prices depend on each centre.
