Salinas de Janubio: What to see and how to visit them in Lanzarote
Janubio salt flats in southern Lanzarote: a mosaic of white and pink pans where sea salt is still made the traditional way.
Wide salt pans in shades of white and pink, where sea salt has been produced the traditional way for generations.
An old bay was closed off by lava, forming a lagoon beside the sea. Salt pans were built around it, and sea salt is still made there by hand. From the lookout, the pans form a mosaic of whites, pinks and ochres against the Atlantic.
Entrance fees to tourist centres are not included in the tours; opening times and prices depend on each centre.
